Taiwanese Spicy Sesame Noodles

Taiwanese Spicy Sesame Noodles

This isnโ€™t your average cold noodle salad.

This is a wellness meal that is a surprisingly delicious flavor bombโ€”high protein, high fiber, and packed with bold umami thanks to our Signature Black Garlic Chicken Seasoning. Whether you're meal-prepping for the week or whipping up something quick between Zoom calls, this dish brings the best of both worlds: effortless nutrition and bold Asian flavor.

We took creamy peanut butter and nutty sesame paste, added a splash of Yuzu Ponzu to brighten what is traditionally a somewhat heavy dish. And we also turned up the heat with garlicky sambal. The result? A creamy-spicy, citrusy dressing that clings to every noodle like it was born to be there.

Hopefully these are all super easy pantry items!

Add some sliced cucumber and then you have a modern twist on a Taiwanese classic: Sesame Noodles (aka Ma Jiang Mian).

๐ŸŒฟ What Youโ€™ll Need:

For the sauce (Makes 2-3 servings):

  • ยผ cup Yuzu Ponzu Sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2-3 tbsp sambal (or to taste)

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or to taste)

  • 3 tbsp allulose powder (or any zero calorie sweetener you love)

  • 2 tsp KYUNU Signature Black Garlic Chicken Seasoning

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  • 3 tbsp sesame paste (i.e. tahini)

  • 5 tbsp peanut butter

  • ยฝ cup water (adjust for desired consistency)

Noodles:

  • 2-3 packs Kyunu Protein Noodles, cooked, rinsed and chilled

Optional but highly recommended toppings:

  • Thinly sliced cucumber

  • Thinly sliced carrots

  • Crispy onions

  • Fresh cilantro

  • Chopped garlic

  • Chopped roasted peanuts

โœจ Pro tip: Want extra protein? Toss in grilled chicken, tofu, or a jammy egg for a meal that flexes with you.

๐Ÿฅฃ How to Make It:

  1. Make the sauce
In a medium bowl or pint sized mason jar, whisk together all sauce ingredients until smooth and creamy. If itโ€™s too thick, add more water a tablespoon at a time until it reaches your perfect texture.

Pro tip: This recipe is customizable! Want it more tangy? Add more vinegar. Want it sweeter? Add more allulose. Want it richer? Add more peanut butter or sesame oil.

  2. Prep your noodles
Cook your Kyunu Protein Noodles according to package directions. Rinse under cold water to stop the cooking, then drain well.

  3. Assemble the magic
Toss the chilled noodles in the sauce until fully coated. Add your crunchy toppings, fresh herbs, and whatever else your heart (and macros) desire.

  4. Serve chilledย
ย Let it sit for a few minutes to let the flavors meld and then serve in a chilled bowl. It's extra refreshing on a hot day!

Pro Tip: Use this sauce on everything! Veggies, chicken, and more!
